Engineer Trainee (Electrical, Civil, Computer Science) - POWERGRID 2026

About the role

POWERGRID, a Maharatna public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Power, is recruiting Engineer Trainees for 319 posts (including 10 backlog vacancies) in Electrical, Civil and Computer Science streams. Selection is based on GATE 2026 normalized marks, a Group Discussion and a Personal Interview. The online application runs from 3 November 2026 to 18 November 2026.

Required profile

• Indian nationals aged 18 to 28 as on 31 December 2025; upper-age relaxations apply to OBC (NCL), SC, ST and PwBD candidates.
• Full-time B.E., B.Tech or B.Sc (Engg.) with at least 60% marks or equivalent CGPA; final-year students must upload their last semester/year marksheet.
• Qualified GATE 2026 score in the matching paper (EE, CE or CS); earlier GATE scores are not valid.
• Eligible branches: Electrical, Civil or Computer Science.

Required skills

• GATE 2026 score in the relevant discipline.
• Group discussion and personal interview performance (weightage: 85% GATE, 3% GD, 12% interview).

What we offer

• Pay scale of Rs. 40,000 to Rs. 1,40,000 (IDA) during the one-year training, with allowances of about 12% of basic salary; CTC around Rs. 11 lakh.
• After training, Engineer in E2 grade with pay scale of Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 1,60,000 (IDA) and CTC of about Rs. 22.50 lakh.
• Regular perks: PF, gratuity, pension, leave pay, insurance, accommodation/HRA, laptop and medical benefits.
• Service bond of three years; bond amounts of Rs. 5 lakh (general/OBC/EWS) or Rs. 2.5 lakh (SC/ST/PwBD).
