Engineer - Digital Solution Architect

About the role

As an IT Solutions Engineer for Methods and Tools and DevOps within Airbus Engineering Environmental Control Systems, you will design, automate, and maintain the technical infrastructure that powers the Modelling & Simulation environment. You will work closely with the Domain Business Owner to implement CI/CD pipelines, containerised software, and network coordination while providing daily support to developers.

Key responsibilities

• Assess current IT systems, methods, tools and processes, and integrate Airbus IT solutions to improve the business ecosystem.
• Design, develop, supervise, and support new solutions from specification through to bug tracking and patching.
• Implement and maintain DevOps automation pipelines (GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins) for regression testing and validation of engineering models.
• Enforce and automate development standards (Python PEP8, Java, Maven) and build robust unit, behavioral and UI testing frameworks.
• Lead end‑user onboarding, roll‑out of solutions, and publish release documentation and standardized Ways of Working.
• Contribute technical input to the department’s long‑term digital strategy and road‑maps.
• Support Digital Operations for the Environmental Control Systems domain, managing user permissions, compliance, data governance and product deployment.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.
• Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer or in a similar infrastructure/tooling role within an enterprise environment.
• Experience working within the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) and familiarity with digital delivery cycles and PI planning.

Required skills

• Hands‑on expertise with Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, Artifactory and SonarQube.
• Container technologies: Docker, Podman, Apptainer, OpenShift, Kubernetes.
• Operating systems: Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and cloud platforms (GCP, AWS).
• Strong knowledge of enterprise networking protocols (firewalls, DNS, routing, authentication/authorization).
• Proficiency in Python (PEP8 compliant) and Java, with experience building automated unit, behavioral and UI testing frameworks.
