Electrical Supervisor – Site Maintenance

About the role

The Electrical Supervisor will take independent charge of the low‑tension (LT) electrical installation at a single site. The incumbent will both perform hands‑on maintenance and act as the competent person responsible for the entire electrical system.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain, inspect and troubleshoot the 415 V, 3‑phase LT distribution system, including main switchgear (SFU/MCCB), distribution boards, busbars and change‑over switches.
• Monitor APFC/capacitor panels, energy meters and phase‑wise load balancing; report abnormal loading and power‑factor deviations.
• Conduct scheduled thermographic inspections of panels, joints and terminations, log hotspots and drive corrective actions.
• Supervise MHE battery charging bays, ensuring charger condition, cable integrity, ventilation and compliance with charging windows.
• Guarantee uninterrupted power to fire‑safety‑critical systems such as fire‑alarm panels, hydrant and sprinkler pump starters, jockey pump, emergency lighting and exit signage.
• Operate and maintain DG sets and UPS systems, performing load tests, battery health checks and record‑keeping.
• Maintain earth pits, perform continuity checks and periodic earth‑resistance testing per IS 3043.
• Enforce lock‑out/tag‑out procedures, issue and control electrical work permits for contractors.
• Maintain the site electrical register, track audit observations and escalate critical conditions to senior management.

Required profile

• Valid Electrical Supervisor Certificate of Competency issued by the State Electrical Licensing Board for the posting state.
• Ability to act as the sole competent electrical person on site, performing both supervisory and hands‑on duties.

Required skills

• LT distribution system maintenance (415 V, 3‑phase, 4‑wire).
• Operation of main switchgear (SFU, MCCB) and distribution boards.
• Thermographic inspection of electrical equipment.
• Battery charging management for MHE equipment.
• Power supply management for fire‑safety systems.
• DG set and UPS operation, load testing and battery health monitoring.
• Earth‑resistance testing in accordance with IS 3043.
• Lock‑out/tag‑out procedures and electrical permit administration.
