Editorial Assistant – Journal Editorial Office

About the role

The Journal Editorial Office is seeking an Editorial Assistant to support the full manuscript lifecycle, from initial screening to final publication. You will act as a central communication hub, ensuring smooth interactions between authors, reviewers, and editors while upholding the highest standards of research integrity and ethical compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Screen, assess, and process scholarly manuscripts according to journal guidelines.
• Perform research‑integrity checks and flag potential ethical issues, conflicts of interest, or confidentiality breaches.
• Facilitate timely, professional communication with authors, reviewers, and editors throughout the peer‑review process.
• Monitor submission quality and timeliness, preparing regular progress reports for stakeholders.
• Maintain accurate manuscript records and databases, ensuring data security and confidentiality.
• Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and align with industry best practices.
• Collaborate with the editorial team to streamline workflows and optimise the submission system.

Required profile

• Strong organisational skills with the ability to independently manage multiple tasks.
• Proactive problem‑solving attitude and capacity to anticipate support opportunities.
• Excellent written communication and attention to detail.
• Familiarity with scholarly publishing standards and ethical guidelines.

Required skills

• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Outlook and Excel.
