Duty Medical Officer

About the role

VG Hospital, a NABH‑accredited multi‑speciality centre in Coimbatore, is seeking a full‑time Duty Medical Officer. The role provides continuous on‑site medical coverage, ensuring patients receive timely and appropriate clinical care across wards and the emergency department.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct daily patient rounds, assess clinical status, and document findings.
• Prescribe, review, and adjust treatments in line with hospital protocols.
• Coordinate admissions, discharges, and transfers with consultants and nursing staff.
• Respond to emergencies, assist in patient stabilization, and support pre‑operative preparation.
• Monitor post‑operative patients and intervene when necessary.
• Participate in clinical discussions and multidisciplinary meetings.
• Maintain accurate medical records and adhere to NABH guidelines and safety standards.

Required profile

• Medical degree (MBBS) from an accredited institution with valid registration.
• Strong foundation in medicine with ability to diagnose and manage common inpatient and emergency conditions.
• Empathetic patient‑care approach and effective communication skills.
• Interest or experience in training junior staff, interns, or nursing teams.
• Exposure to surgical settings, including pre‑ and post‑operative care.
• Ability to work rotational shifts, handle emergencies, and stay composed under pressure.
• Familiarity with hospital information systems and good clinical documentation skills.
• Prior experience in a multi‑speciality or NABH‑accredited hospital is preferred but not mandatory.
