Director, Technology Risk Management

About the role

The Director, Technology Risk Management will lead independent technology risk oversight for Mastercard Transaction Services (MTS). Reporting to the second line of defence, this senior leader will shape risk governance, challenge technology initiatives and ensure resilience across regulated entities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic, independent oversight of technology, cyber and operational resilience risks across MTS regulated entities.
• Evaluate material technology initiatives, transformation programmes and strategic investments from a risk perspective.
• Challenge technology risk assessments, control environments, risk acceptances, and remediation plans with evidence‑based analysis.
• Monitor emerging technology and cyber threats, assess relevance to MTS and advise senior stakeholders on business and regulatory impacts.
• Oversee second‑line challenge of outsourcing, critical third‑party arrangements, technology dependencies and concentration risks.
• Lead the development, implementation and embedding of the broader MTS Risk Management Framework beyond the technology domain.
• Collaborate with senior leaders in Technology, Engineering, Product, Cyber Security, Compliance, Regulatory Affairs and Legal to translate complex risk matters into clear business insight.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level experience in technology risk management, preferably within a financial services or payments environment.
• Demonstrated ability to provide credible challenge to senior stakeholders and influence decision‑making.
• Strong understanding of cyber risk, operational resilience, outsourcing and third‑party risk.
• Experience working with cross‑functional senior leaders across technology, engineering, product, compliance and legal functions.
