Director, Accounting & Reporting – APAC & China

About the role

The Accounting and Reporting Director is a senior finance leadership position within Alcon’s International Finance organization, responsible for strategic controllership, governance and financial reporting across APAC and China.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and oversight for accounting and financial reporting across APAC and China, covering revenue of approx. $1.3 billion.
• Ensure consistent application of IFRS and the Alcon Manual of Accounting, acting as the regional subject‑matter authority.
• Lead the preparation, review and quality of regional financial statements and balance‑sheet integrity, with quarterly balance‑sheet reviews.
• Oversee statutory reporting and external audits for 12 legal entities, guaranteeing timely compliance.
• Drive simplification, standardisation and continuous improvement of accounting processes and digital transformation initiatives.
• Partner with senior finance, tax, business and operations leaders to support informed decision‑making.
• Develop and mentor a high‑performing team of 45 associates, fostering a strong controllership mindset.

Required profile

• Senior finance leader with proven experience in regional accounting and reporting, preferably within APAC and China.
• Demonstrated ability to manage large budgets (≈ $2.3 M) and oversee statutory compliance for multiple entities.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and revenue‑recognition principles.
• Excellent stakeholder management and escalation handling skills.
