Diploma Engineer Trainee – Plant Operations

About the role

This position is designed for a recent engineering diploma graduate to gain hands‑on experience in plant processes, operations, and equipment. Working under the supervision of a Field Executive, the trainee will learn safety procedures, technical documentation, and field‑level equipment monitoring.

Key responsibilities

• Learn and apply HSE policies, including PTW, TBRA, TBT, and plant‑specific hazard controls.
• Identify and report safety hazards, handle hazardous materials, and act as a first responder in emergencies.
• Read and interpret P&ID, PFD, cause‑and‑effect diagrams, operating manuals, SOPs, and emergency procedures.
• Monitor field equipment using SOPs, SOCs, LLF checklists, and on‑demand reading instruments.
• Collect field samples for laboratory testing and maintain accurate logs, HOTO documentation, and equipment records.
• Collaborate with field executives, shift engineers, and contractors to ensure smooth plant activities while maintaining safety standards.
• Continuously seek process improvements and stay updated on safety guidelines and management methodologies such as TQM, EFQM, QCC, and 5S.

Required profile

• Diploma in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Willingness to learn HSE procedures and technical documentation.
• Ability to work under supervision and develop competence for independent field‑executive responsibilities.

Required skills

• Understanding of HSE procedures (PTW, TBRA, TBT).
• Reading P&ID and PFD diagrams.
• Familiarity with SOPs, operating manuals, and emergency procedures.
• Equipment monitoring and maintenance using standard checklists.
• Sample collection for laboratory analysis.
• Basic use of IT systems for logging and reporting.
