Design Engineer II – Connector Engineering

About the role

Molex is looking for a Design Engineer II to join its Connector Engineering team. You will apply strong engineering fundamentals and analytical tools to create high‑performance connector products that meet customer requirements and business goals.

Key responsibilities

• Create innovative connector designs balancing requirements, manufacturability, quality, reliability and cost.
• Drive product development from concept generation through design validation and engineering analysis.
• Apply DFMEA, FEA, tolerance stack‑up analysis and statistical methods to support design decisions.
• Develop and maintain 3D CAD models, engineering drawings and GD&T‑based documentation.
• Partner with manufacturing, quality, test and supply‑chain teams to ensure successful product launches.
• Define validation strategies, conduct testing and analyze results to verify performance and reliability.
• Use structured problem‑solving methods (8D, 5 Why, Fishbone) to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Contribute to material selection and process choices for injection‑molded, stamped, plated and assembled components.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of product design and development experience.
• Experience with engineering analysis tools such as FEA, DFMEA and tolerance stack‑up.
• Proven ability to develop validation plans, conduct testing and interpret data.
• Familiarity with structured problem‑solving methodologies.
• Willingness to travel up to 10 % of the time.
