Design & Development Engineer – Automotive Connectors

About the role

The role involves designing and developing automotive connectors for Bosch’s automotive portfolio. The engineer will work independently to create parametric models, manufacturing drawings and technical documentation, supporting both new development and series part improvements.

Key responsibilities

• Independently create parametric CAD models and detailed manufacturing and offer drawings for connector components.
• Perform requirement analysis, focus matrix and concept generation based on customer specifications.
• Conduct tolerance stack‑up, functional proof and design calculations for connector assemblies.
• Prepare technical customer documentation and implement engineering change requests (ECR) on series parts.
• Benchmark connectors, compare specifications and validate designs against OEM requirements.

Required profile

• 6–12 years of experience in mechanical design for automotive or connector industry.
• B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
• Proven ability to work with cross‑functional teams and solve complex design problems.

Required skills

• Proficiency in UG NX and Teamcenter for CAD modelling and data management.
• Experience with GD&T, tolerance analysis and stack‑up calculations.
• Knowledge of thermoplastics, elastomers, metals, plating materials and related manufacturing processes (molding, stamping, plating, assembly).
• Ability to perform air‑gap and creepage calculations (Creo is a plus).
• Familiarity with SAP for material master and BOM creation.
• Competence with MS Project and MS Office tools.
