Deputy General Manager

About the role

The Deputy General Manager will lead end‑to‑end procurement for operation & maintenance (O&M) categories, ensuring critical spares and services are available to support plant reliability and expansion.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute category strategies for mechanical, electrical, utility spares, critical equipment, AMCs, consumables and safety items.
• Lead RFQ/RFP/RFI processes, conduct technical evaluations, negotiate commercial terms and drive total cost of ownership and should‑cost analyses.
• Identify, qualify and onboard OEMs, dealers and service partners; manage long‑term agreements and conduct regular vendor performance reviews.
• Drive cost optimisation through localisation, alternate sourcing, standardisation and support make‑vs‑buy decisions.
• Ensure availability of critical spares for production, planned shutdowns, overhauls and expansion projects, collaborating closely with O&M teams.
• Maintain compliance with procurement policies, delegation of authority and audit requirements; manage the PR‑to‑PO lifecycle in SAP/ERP systems.

Required profile

• B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering.
• MBA or PGDM in Supply Chain or Operations (preferred).
• 10–15 years of experience in strategic procurement, preferably in manufacturing environments such as solar, semiconductor, electronics, power or metals.

Required skills

• Proficiency with SAP or other ERP procurement modules.
• Strong capability in conducting RFQ/RFP/RFI processes and total cost of ownership analysis.
