Data Steward - Biopharma Development Domain

About the role

Amgen is looking for a Data Steward to play a key role in implementing and adopting its data governance framework, which will modernize its data ecosystem. The role works closely with business stakeholders and data analysts, and collaborates with the Product Owner and other Business Analysts, leveraging technologies such as Generative AI, Machine Learning and integrated data.

Key responsibilities

• Implement the data governance and data management framework for the Development domain of the biopharma lifecycle
• Help operationalize the Enterprise data governance framework, covering data quality, access controls, privacy and security compliance, master data management, data sharing, communication and change management
• Work with Enterprise MDM and reference data to enforce standards and data reusability
• Maintain documentation on data definitions, standards, flows, legacy structures, common data models and data harmonization
• Partner with business teams to identify compliance requirements for data privacy, security and regulatory policies
• Define data foundation specifications together with technology teams and enterprise teams (e.g. MDM, Enterprise Data Fabric)
• Build strong relationships with key business leaders and partners

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree and 3 to 5 years of Life Science, Biotechnology, Pharmacology or Information Systems experience, or a Diploma and 7 to 9 years of the same
• Knowledge of Pharma processes, specialized in the Development domain of the biopharma lifecycle
• Experience with data governance frameworks, for example Collibra or Alation
• Experience developing data products, including enabling data dictionaries and business glossaries

Required skills

• Good to have: Agile/Scrum and data analysis tools such as SQL, Excel, Python or SAS
• Excellent written and verbal communication, problem-solving and attention to detail
• Ability to work with global, virtual teams and manage multiple priorities
