Data Scientist – Computer Vision

About the role

Airbus is building AI‑driven solutions to improve efficiency across its value chain. We are seeking an experienced Data Scientist specialized in Computer Vision to lead end‑to‑end development of vision‑based AI products, turning complex business challenges into deployable models.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, train, evaluate and optimise custom computer‑vision models (classification, detection, segmentation, OCR, visual inspection) from concept to production.
• Define annotation strategies, build data collection, cleaning and labelling pipelines, and manage platforms such as CVAT or Labelbox.
• Translate ambiguous business requirements into well‑scoped computer‑vision problems with clear KPIs.
• Architect scalable ML pipelines on AWS or GCP using containerisation and serverless services.
• Optimise models for low‑latency inference (quantisation, ONNX, TensorRT, OpenVINO) and set up monitoring for drift and performance.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to full‑stack and ML engineers.
• Stay current with advances in vision‑language models and evaluate buy‑vs‑build options.

Required profile

• Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics or a related quantitative field.
• 5+ years of hands‑on data‑science and machine‑learning experience, including at least 3 years focused on production computer‑vision applications.
• Proven ability to deliver AI solutions that generate measurable business impact.

Required skills

• Python programming.
• Deep‑learning frameworks: PyTorch or TensorFlow/Keras.
• Cloud platforms: AWS and/or GCP.
• Containerisation tools (e.g., Docker) and serverless ML services.
• Model optimisation tools: ONNX, TensorRT, OpenVINO.
• Annotation platforms: CVAT, Labelbox.
