Data Scientist - Air Systems

About the role

The Data Scientist will work on Air System applications, creating safe and balanced designs while addressing performance, cost, environmental and operational constraints. You will develop machine‑learning and deep‑learning models for predictive and prescriptive decision‑making using both in‑service and design data, and build analytics dashboards to monitor aircraft operational reliability.

Key responsibilities

• Translate business needs into statistical, machine‑learning or AI problem statements.
• Collaborate with IT, Data Analysts and Data Engineers to extract, integrate and pipeline structured and unstructured data from sources such as Skywise and Palantir.
• Design, train and deploy ML/DL models, including NLP, time‑series, computer‑vision and physics‑based surrogate models.
• Develop and maintain dashboards for Air‑systems reliability and predictive maintenance.
• Design and run controlled experiments to validate optimal solutions.
• Implement monitoring protocols to ensure models stay aligned with evolving business requirements.
• Contribute to reusable, industrial‑grade AI solutions and share best practices across the data community.
• Ensure compliance with internal and external regulations and Airbus ethical AI principles.

Required profile

• Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Applied Mathematics or a related field.
• Awareness of compliance risks and a commitment to act with integrity.
• Strong teamwork, communication and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to manage stakeholder requirements and negotiate solutions.

Required skills

• Machine learning and deep learning development and deployment.
• Dashboarding in Skywise environments and standalone tools.
• Experience building NLP, time‑series, computer‑vision and physics‑based surrogate models.
• Data‑driven and hybrid (physics + data) modeling.
• Data extraction and pipeline design using Skywise and Palantir.
