Data Science & Machine Learning Lead

About the role

AVEVA is seeking a Lead Data Scientist to own end‑to‑end machine‑learning initiatives for its industrial software portfolio. The role translates complex business problems into scalable AI solutions, drives model development, and ensures measurable impact for customers across sectors such as oil & gas, utilities, water, data centers and CPG.

Key responsibilities

• Lead data exploration, quality assessment and gap analysis, collaborating with data engineering to deliver reliable datasets.
• Drive the full ML lifecycle—from feature engineering to model development, validation and deployment.
• Design and implement feature pipelines and select appropriate ML approaches, from baseline to advanced models.
• Build, train, optimise and test models using AVEVA products, Python or other analytics tools.
• Develop classification, regression, clustering and forecasting models, establishing robust evaluation, bias checks and explainability.
• Identify new AI opportunities, contribute to roadmap planning and promote data‑driven decision‑making.
• Support the Cloud practice under Global Services, creating reusable ML templates for customer use cases.

Required profile

• 8–12+ years of experience in Data Science or Machine Learning.
• Strong statistical, probability and mathematical foundation.
• Proven ability to analyse customer data for quality, context and correlation.
• Experience in industrial sectors such as oil & gas, utilities, water, data centre or CPG.
