Customs & Trade Compliance Manager

About the role

A vacancy for a Customs & Trade Compliance Manager has arisen within Airbus India. In this role you will act as the strategic focal point for trade governance, customs compliance and duty optimisation in India, supporting local assembly operations and other divisions across South Asia.

Key responsibilities

• Broker Governance & Auditing – lead, supervise and audit appointed Customs House Agents to ensure compliance with SLAs, accurate HSN classification, valuation and rules‑of‑origin declarations.
• Duty Optimisation & Concessional Schemes – direct the application and governance of concessional duty regimes such as IGCR and local manufacturing schemes to secure exemptions while ensuring end‑use compliance.
• Valuation & Transfer Pricing – lead Special Valuation Branch proceedings in coordination with Finance to align intercompany pricing with customs requirements.
• Export Control & Regulatory Compliance – oversee compliance with SCMET dual‑use regulations, non‑tariff trade restrictions and required import/export authorisations.
• Stakeholder & Authority Liaison – represent Airbus before Indian Customs, DGFT and civil aviation regulatory bodies.
• Cross‑Functional Alignment – partner with European trade teams, local logistics, procurement and production to align master data and streamline supply‑chain processes.

Required profile

• Degree in Business Law, International Trade, Supply Chain or Finance (or equivalent).
• 12+ years of proven experience in customs compliance, auditing and broker governance within aerospace, defence or automotive manufacturing.
• In‑depth knowledge of Indian Customs legislation (CBIC), Foreign Trade Policy (DGFT) and duty‑concessional manufacturing programmes.
• Demonstrated project‑management (PMO) skills to design and deploy compliance frameworks.
• Familiarity with Special Valuation Branch processes and intercompany trade mechanisms.
• Proficiency with digital corporate tools and ERP systems.
• Fluent English at negotiation level (mandatory).
