Courier/Driver – NHS Borders General Hospital

About the role

The NHS Borders Facilities Department is seeking a reliable Courier/Driver to support the General Hospital’s General Services team. You will be responsible for transporting a variety of essential items across the Borders region and, when required, to Edinburgh.

Key responsibilities

• Collect and deliver stores, medication, mail, blood samples, gas cylinders and other critical supplies.
• Ensure timely and safe delivery to designated locations throughout the Borders area and occasional trips to Edinburgh.
• Maintain accurate delivery logs and report any issues promptly.
• Adhere to all health, safety and infection‑control procedures while on the road.

Required profile

• Full, valid UK driving licence.
• Good level of physical fitness to handle demanding tasks.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work flexibly within a team.
• Commitment to NHS Borders Behavioural Framework values.

Required skills

• Driving licence (Category B) and safe driving record.
• Physical stamina for loading and unloading items.
• Effective verbal communication.
