About the role

Kupperman Companies is seeking an experienced Controller to lead all bookkeeping, accounting, and financial operations for its commercial real‑estate development and investment activities. The role combines traditional controller duties with construction draw administration and job‑cost accounting for active development projects.

Key responsibilities

• Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and the monthly/annual close process.
• Maintain day‑to‑day transaction recording, reconciliations, invoicing, and bank reconciliations.
• Administer construction loan draw requests, preparing sources‑and‑uses schedules and coordinating with lenders and title companies.
• Track job‑cost accounting for development projects, recording actual costs against budgets.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and ad‑hoc financial statements and reports.
• Coordinate with tax credit consultants and auditors on compliance filings and cost certifications.
• Support tax filings and manage the annual 1099 process for contractors.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; CPA preferred.
• Minimum 8 + years of accounting experience, preferably in real estate, private equity, investment banking, or fund management.
• Strong understanding of real‑estate and property accounting, partnership tax matters, and development finance.
• Self‑starter with high initiative, excellent problem‑solving abilities, and strong written and verbal communication skills.
