About the role

Jagran New Media is seeking a passionate Sports Content Writer to produce engaging digital stories covering national and international sporting events. The role involves creating news articles, match reports, explainers, and feature pieces that resonate with a large online audience.

Key responsibilities

• Cover a wide range of sports including cricket, football, tennis, badminton, athletics and other major events.
• Write timely news stories, match reports, athlete profiles, and in‑depth feature articles.
• Track tournament schedules, rankings, records, transfers and major developments.
• Identify trending sports topics and develop reader‑friendly explainers on rules, formats, statistics and historical milestones.
• Collaborate with the editorial team to ensure accurate, timely, and engaging coverage.
• Maintain high editorial standards, fact‑checking and journalistic integrity.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, English or a related field.
• 1–2 years of experience in sports journalism, digital media or a news organization.
• Strong understanding of major national and international sporting events and tournaments.
• Excellent research, writing and communication abilities.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced digital newsroom and meet tight deadlines.
