Chinese Cook – Commis 1 (Full‑time)

About the role

Rockside Resto Bar is seeking a motivated Chinese Cook (Commis 1) to join its kitchen team in Karkal. This full‑time, on‑site position focuses on preparing a variety of Chinese dishes while supporting the head chef during busy service periods.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare mise en place for Chinese menu items, including soups, stir‑fries, noodles and fried dishes.
• Operate the wok and other cooking equipment safely and efficiently.
• Monitor food quality and presentation to meet established standards.
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness, adhere to food safety and hygiene protocols, and manage stock rotation.
• Assist with receiving, storing, and organizing ingredients.
• Collaborate with the chef and fellow team members during service.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience with Chinese cuisine techniques such as wok cooking, stir‑frying, steaming and deep‑frying.
• Solid understanding of basic cooking methods, knife handling, portion control and plating standards.
• Knowledge of food safety, hygiene practices and proper ingredient storage.
• Ability to follow recipes, SOPs and instructions from senior chefs.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills, able to work calmly under pressure.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
