Chief Legal Counsel

About the role

The Fortune 200 organisation is establishing a Global Capability Centre (GCC) in India and needs a senior legal leader to build the function from day one. As Chief Legal Counsel you will act as the principal legal advisor to the centre’s leadership, shaping strategy, governance and risk management across the entity.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the legal strategy, structure and priorities for the India centre.
• Advise senior leadership on corporate, regulatory and commercial risk.
• Recruit, mentor and develop a high‑performing legal team, and create policies and playbooks.
• Oversee corporate governance, compliance and entity matters.
• Lead negotiation of high‑value contracts, manage disputes and engage with regulators.

Required profile

• Minimum 8 years of post‑qualification experience with demonstrated leadership exposure.
• LLB with enrolment as an advocate or an equivalent qualification.
• Proven track record of building or running an in‑house legal function.
• Excellent written and spoken English and a reliable remote‑work setup.
