Cashier – Full‑time Branch Banking

About the role

The Cashier is responsible for executing all cash‑related transactions and operations at branch locations, ensuring compliance with internal and external banking guidelines. This full‑time position supports the smooth functioning of the branch by handling cash, cheques, drafts and other instruments, and by providing courteous service to customers.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process cheques, drafts, dividend warrants, pay orders and cash withdrawals within authorized limits.
• Disburse cash, collect cash against deposit challans and record all entries in the banking system.
• Maintain inward/outward registers, petty‑cash and assets registers; prepare requisition forms for the Regional Head Office.
• Perform daily cash tally, end‑of‑day reconciliation and report results in the Branch End‑of‑Day report.
• Jointly manage the branch vault and safeguard cash, keys and valuables with the Assistant Branch Manager.
• Interact with customers, explain repayment schedules, promote bank products and guide them to alternate channels.
• Ensure adherence to turnaround times, regulatory requirements and bank policies for all cashier operations.
• Validate customer authenticity during cash withdrawals and verify accuracy of cash deposit slips.

• Ability to handle cash transactions accurately and maintain detailed registers.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow banking procedures.
• Good communication skills for interacting with customers and cross‑selling services.
• Reliability in safeguarding cash, keys and other valuables.
