Cashier – Branch Banking

About the role

The Cashier is responsible for executing all cash‑related transactions and operations at a branch, ensuring compliance with internal and external banking guidelines. This full‑time position involves handling deposits, withdrawals, cheque processing, and end‑of‑day reconciliations while delivering courteous service to customers.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process cheques, drafts, dividend warrants, pay orders and other instruments, and issue acknowledgements.
• Disburse cash for withdrawal requests, collect cash for deposits, and maintain accurate system entries.
• Maintain inward/outward registers, petty‑cash and asset registers, and submit requisitions to the regional head office.
• Perform daily cash tally, prepare end‑of‑day reports, and manage the branch vault jointly with the Operations Officer.
• Interact with customers, promote cross‑selling opportunities, and educate them on alternate banking channels.
• Ensure compliance with all regulations, bank policies, and defined turnaround times for transactions.

Required profile

• Graduation in any discipline, preferably Finance or Commerce.
• 1–2 years of experience handling high‑volume cash transactions.
• Familiarity with financial modules/ERP for entry posting and accounting data consolidation.
• Ability to detect counterfeit notes and verify transaction authenticity.
