Cashier – Branch Banking

About the role

The Cashier is responsible for executing all cash‑related transactions and operations for the branch, ensuring compliance with internal and external banking guidelines and maintaining accurate records.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process cheques, drafts, dividend warrants, pay orders and other instruments for withdrawals within authorized limits.
• Disburse cash for withdrawal requests and collect cash against deposit challans.
• Collect loan repayments as per EMI schedule and update system entries.
• Maintain inward/outward registers, petty‑cash register and assets register; send requisition forms to the Regional Head Office.
• Perform daily cash tally, reconcile transactions and prepare the End‑of‑Day branch report.
• Jointly manage the branch vault and cash‑handling function with the Operations Officer.
• Interact with customers during deposits and withdrawals, identify cross‑sell opportunities and inform them about new products and services.
• Provide courteous customer service, escalate queries when needed and educate customers on alternate channels.
• Ensure adherence to defined turnaround times and compliance with all applicable regulations and bank policies.
• Validate customer authenticity during cash withdrawals and verify accuracy of cash deposit slips.
• Update bank passbooks for relevant transactions and process cash bundles for currency‑chest deposits.

Required profile

• Full‑time position reporting to the Branch Operation Manager.
• Responsible for the overall cash‑handling function of the branch.
• Must adhere to defined turnaround times for all transactions.
• Must ensure compliance with bank policies, regulations and internal controls.
• Demonstrates superior customer service and accurate cash management.
