Cashier (Bank Branch)

About the role

The Cashier is responsible for executing all cash‑related transactions and operations at a bank branch in line with internal and external banking guidelines. This full‑time position ensures accurate cash handling, end‑of‑day reconciliation, and excellent customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process cheques, drafts, dividend warrants, pay orders and other instruments within authorized limits.
• Disburse cash for withdrawal requests and collect cash for deposit challans.
• Maintain and update inward/outward registers, petty‑cash register, and assets register.
• Perform daily cash tallying, prepare end‑of‑day reports, and reconcile cash balances in the system.
• Jointly manage the branch vault and cash custody with the Operations Officer.
• Assist customers with deposits, withdrawals, and loan repayment schedules, and promote cross‑selling opportunities.
• Ensure compliance with all banking regulations, policies, and defined turnaround times for transactions.
• Validate customer authenticity during cash withdrawals and verify deposit slip accuracy.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; banking or finance background preferred.
• Experience in cash handling or teller operations within a banking environment.
• Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
• Good communication skills and ability to address customer queries courteously.
• Ability to work collaboratively with branch staff and follow established procedures.
