Buying Professional – Procurement Specialist

About the role

Siemens is looking for a Buying Professional to lead procurement activities for a range of commodities, including sheet metal, stamped components, plastic parts, electronics, metal parts, and electrical bought‑out components. Based in Pondicherry, you will work within a Business Unit to ensure the right quality and quantity are sourced at competitive prices while supporting strategic initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Source, negotiate and procure commodities such as sheet metal, plastic parts, electronics and electrical components.
• Execute strategic purchase topics aligned with long‑term plans and company guidelines.
• Support cost‑reduction and capacity‑augmentation strategies for the Business Unit.
• Identify and implement material cost‑reduction measures, including bottom‑up costing and make‑or‑buy decisions.
• Re‑evaluate existing vendors, develop alternate sources and manage new vendor onboarding.
• Establish and manage rate/frame contracts, monitor supplier performance and ensure on‑time delivery.
• Utilise e‑sourcing tools and commodity pooling to optimise procurement processes.

Required profile

• Proven experience in procurement or strategic purchasing within an industrial environment.
• Ability to drive cost‑reduction initiatives and manage supplier relationships.
• Strong negotiation skills and experience with contract management.
• Familiarity with make‑or‑buy analysis and localization of parts/sub‑assemblies.
