Buyer – Procurement of Stores, Spare Parts & Technical Equipment

About the role

As a Buyer at BSM you will manage the procurement of stores, spare parts and technical equipment required for vessel operations. You will act as the link between ship and shore, ensuring supplies are delivered cost‑effectively and on time to keep vessels running smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Manage purchasing of vessel requirements based on requisitions and voyage needs.
• Negotiate with contracted and non‑contracted suppliers to optimise costs and ensure compliance.
• Plan and coordinate delivery of goods to vessels, monitor pending requirements and back‑orders.
• Report purchase status, requisition changes and delivery schedules to vessels and superintendents.
• Provide supplier performance feedback to improve quality of goods and services.
• Maintain updated item lists through category management based on vessel usage.
• Resolve logistics issues related to quality, quantity, condition or delivery discrepancies.
• Verify invoices against purchasing and delivery documents and prepare pre‑payment vouchers when needed.
• Utilise relevant system modules to support technical superintendents and vessels, suggesting improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Business, Accounting or equivalent.
• 4–6 years of experience in purchasing or supply‑chain management, preferably in the shipping industry.
• Technical understanding of vessel operational needs and supplier capabilities.
• Strong negotiation, organisational and project‑management abilities.
• Fluent English and proficient PC literacy.
