Branch Cashier – Banking Operations

About the role

The Branch Cashier is responsible for executing all cash‑related transactions and operations at the branch in line with internal and external banking guidelines. This position ensures accurate cash handling, maintains registers, and supports end‑of‑day reconciliation.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process cheques, drafts, dividend warrants, pay orders and other instruments within authorized limits.
• Disburse cash for withdrawal requests and collect cash for deposit challans.
• Collect loan repayments according to EMI schedules and record entries in the banking system.
• Maintain inward/outward registers, petty‑cash and asset registers; submit requisition forms to the Regional Head Office.
• Perform daily cash tallying, prepare the End‑of‑Day branch report, and manage vault operations jointly with the Operations Officer.
• Provide courteous customer service, explain repayment dates, promote cross‑selling opportunities, and guide customers to alternate channels.
• Ensure compliance with all regulations, bank policies, and defined turnaround times for transactions.
• Validate customer authenticity during cash withdrawals and verify deposit slip accuracy for audit purposes.
