Bogie Design Engineer – Rolling Stock (Design & Detailing)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Bogie Design Engineer to lead the design and detailing of rolling‑stock bogie structures. The role combines 3D modelling, manufacturing drawing creation, and interface management across Indian and German engineering standards.

Key responsibilities

• Create 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings of bogie frames, suspension systems, brake and traction interfaces using CATIA V5.
• Develop fabrication, assembly and interface drawings with GD&T, tolerance stack‑up, and weld specifications.
• Design piping and cable routing on the bogie and ensure seamless integration with carbody, traction, braking and electrical systems.
• Support design validation through load‑case analysis, stiffness checks and coordination with FEA teams.
• Apply weight optimisation, material selection and cost‑effective design principles.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, prototype builds and suppliers to ensure successful production.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 5–10+ years of experience in bogie, rolling‑stock or welded‑structure design.
• Strong knowledge of railway standards (EN, DIN, UIC, IRS) and welding standards (EN 15085).
• Experience working in global teams, particularly India‑Germany collaboration.

• PLM tools – preferably ENOVIA.
• Manufacturing processes: welding, machining, assembly.
