BI QA Analyst

About the role

We are looking for a BI QA Analyst to ensure the quality and accuracy of Power BI reports and dashboards before they reach business users. The role involves end‑to‑end testing, data validation and close collaboration with BI and data engineering teams.

Key responsibilities

• Perform end‑to‑end quality assurance testing of Power BI reports, dashboards and data outputs prior to UAT and production release.
• Validate data accuracy, completeness and consistency across source systems, data models and report outputs.
• Develop and execute test plans, test cases and validation scenarios based on business requirements and KPIs.
• Conduct functional testing to verify business logic, calculations, filters and expected user behaviour.
• Perform data reconciliation, root‑cause analysis and work with BI/Data Engineers to resolve discrepancies.
• Serve as the primary QA gatekeeper, ensuring all reports and changes are thoroughly validated before release.
• Collaborate with BI Engineering to validate new reports, enhancements and data fixes in development and staging environments.
• Partner with stakeholders to prepare test datasets, scenarios and acceptance criteria for UAT.
• Document testing results, defects and resolutions while maintaining traceability and audit readiness.
• Identify and drive improvements in QA processes, testing coverage and data validation practices.

Required profile

• 3–5+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, Data Analytics or Quality Assurance within a BI environment.
• Hands‑on experience testing Power BI reports and dashboards (experience with Tableau or Looker is a plus).
• Strong understanding of data validation, data quality principles and reconciliation techniques.
• Proficiency in SQL for data querying, validation and troubleshooting.
• Solid knowledge of data models, ETL processes and reporting logic.
• Experience creating and executing test cases, QA documentation and defect tracking.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
