Bank Cashier – Branch Operations

About the role

The Cashier is responsible for executing all cash‑related transactions and operations at a branch, ensuring compliance with internal and external banking guidelines. The role includes accurate processing of cheques, drafts, cash deposits and withdrawals, as well as end‑of‑day reconciliation and maintenance of cash registers.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process cheques, drafts, dividend warrants, pay orders and other instruments within authorized limits.
• Disburse cash for withdrawal requests and collect cash for deposits, updating the system accordingly.
• Collect loan repayments as per EMI schedules and record entries in the banking system.
• Maintain inward and outward cash registers, petty‑cash and asset registers, and forward requisition forms to the Regional Head Office.
• Perform daily cash tallying, prepare the End‑of‑Day branch report and ensure vault operations in coordination with the Operations Officer.
• Provide courteous customer service, address queries, promote bank products and guide customers to alternate channels.
• Ensure compliance with turnaround times, banking regulations and internal policies for all cashier operations.
• Validate customer identity during cash withdrawals and verify deposit slips for audit purposes.
