Bank Cashier – Branch Operations

About the role

The Cashier is responsible for executing all cash‑related transactions and operations at the branch in line with internal and external banking guidelines. This role ensures accurate cash handling, end‑of‑day reconciliation, and provides courteous service to customers.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process cheques, drafts, dividend warrants, pay orders and other instruments within authorized limits.
• Disburse cash for withdrawal requests and collect cash for deposit challans.
• Collect loan repayments as per EMI schedule and maintain system entries.
• Maintain inward/outward registers, petty cash register, assets register and submit requisitions to the Regional Head Office.
• Perform daily cash tally, prepare the End‑of‑Day branch report and ensure vault operations with the Operations Officer.
• Interact with customers, identify cross‑sell opportunities and educate them on new products and alternate channels.
• Count and verify cash at the start and end of the day, safeguard cash, keys and valuables.
• Adhere to transaction turnaround times, regulatory compliance and bank policies.

Required profile

• Experience handling cash transactions and maintaining registers.
• Strong attention to detail for daily reconciliation and audit requirements.
• Ability to follow banking guidelines, compliance standards and internal policies.
• Excellent customer service orientation and communication skills.
• Capability to work jointly with the Branch Operations Officer and Assistant Branch Manager.
