Bank Cashier – Branch Operations

About the role

The Cashier is responsible for executing all cash‑related transactions and operations at a branch in line with internal and external banking guidelines. The role ensures accurate cash handling, end‑of‑day reconciliation, and provides courteous service to customers.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process cheques, drafts, dividend warrants, pay orders and other instruments within authorized limits.
• Disburse cash for withdrawal requests and collect cash for deposit challans.
• Collect loan repayments as per EMI schedules and maintain appropriate system entries.
• Maintain inward/outward registers, petty‑cash register, and assets register; submit requisitions to the Regional Head Office.
• Perform daily cash tallying, prepare end‑of‑day reports, and manage the branch vault jointly with the Operations Officer.
• Interact with customers during deposits and withdrawals, identify cross‑selling opportunities, and educate them on new products and alternate channels.
• Ensure compliance with all regulations, bank policies, and defined turnaround times for transactions.
• Validate customer authenticity for cash withdrawals and verify cash deposit slips for audit purposes.

Required profile

• Experience in cash handling and banking operations.
• Strong knowledge of internal and external banking guidelines.
• Excellent customer‑service orientation and communication skills.
• Ability to work accurately under pressure and meet defined turnaround times.
• Attention to detail for maintaining registers and performing reconciliations.
