Backup Engineer L2 – Veeam Backup

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Backup Engineer L2 specialized in Veeam Backup to join our IT Infrastructure team at a client site in Ghansoli, Mumbai. The role focuses on managing, monitoring and optimizing enterprise backup and disaster‑recovery environments to ensure data protection, high availability and business continuity.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor daily backup, replication and restore jobs and guarantee SLA compliance.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex backup issues escalated from L1 support.
• Perform root‑cause analysis for recurring incidents and implement preventive actions.
• Configure and manage Veeam Backup & Replication jobs, SureBackup, SureReplica and Scale‑Out Backup Repositories.
• Administer Veeam Agent for Windows/Linux, protection groups and plugin‑based backups for enterprise applications and databases.
• Manage tape libraries, drives, media pools and GFS retention policies.
• Implement and monitor cloud backups for AWS, Azure and Microsoft 365 workloads.
• Conduct disaster‑recovery drills, failover/failback testing and backup validation to meet RPO/RTO targets.
• Use Veeam ONE for proactive monitoring, reporting and capacity planning.
• Coordinate with virtualization, storage, network and application teams and maintain SOPs, RCA documents and architecture diagrams.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of hands‑on experience in backup administration, preferably with Veeam solutions.
• Full‑time availability, Monday‑Saturday, 9 am‑6 pm shift with remote support on 2nd and 4th Saturdays.
• Familiarity with ITIL incident, change and problem management processes.
