Backend Software Engineer – Python

About the role

MethodTech is seeking a Backend Software Engineer with strong Python expertise to build and scale the core systems of its investment platform. This hands‑on role works directly with the founder on infrastructure, APIs, and data pipelines, offering full ownership of technical decisions in a fast‑growing fintech startup.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust backend services using Python.
• Build scalable architectures that support complex financial data and workflows.
• Create and manage RESTful APIs that power frontend applications and product features.
• Work with structured and unstructured datasets to deliver reliable, data‑driven solutions.
• Translate business and financial requirements into performant, maintainable code.
• Collaborate with frontend, product, and design teams to deliver end‑to‑end features.
• Debug complex issues and contribute to code reviews and engineering best practices.

Required profile

• 2+ years of professional backend development experience.
• Strong foundation in computer science fundamentals and software engineering principles.
• Ability to work independently, take ownership, and thrive in a startup environment.
• Excellent communication skills and comfort interacting directly with founders and leadership.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.

Required skills

• Expert‑level proficiency in Python.
• Experience building and consuming REST APIs.
• Familiarity with backend frameworks and system design.
