Backend Engineer – Media Platform (AI Dubbing & Translation)

About the role

Sarvam is looking for a Backend Engineer to develop and operate its Studio media platform, which powers AI‑driven dubbing, live translation and other multilingual media services for enterprise customers.

Key responsibilities

• Design and optimise FastAPI services for dubbing and live translation, handling multi‑stage orchestration, rate‑limited scheduling and back‑pressure.
• Build and maintain distributed worker architectures with independent scaling per pipeline stage and automatic recovery of failed tasks.
• Own the data layer, including async ORM models, schema migrations and query optimisation on PostgreSQL.
• Implement real‑time features such as WebSocket‑based job tracking and streaming audio pipelines.
• Manage Kubernetes deployments using Helm charts, secrets management and multi‑role container images.

Required profile

• 4–6 years of backend engineering experience building production services at scale.
• Strong proficiency in Python and hands‑on experience with FastAPI or similar async web frameworks.
• Deep understanding of async programming (asyncio, concurrent execution patterns) and distributed task systems (Celery or equivalents).
