Backend Development Manager - .NET / Azure

About the role

EY is looking for a Backend Development Manager in Bengaluru to lead the design, development and delivery of scalable backend platforms using .NET, Azure and modern API architectures. The role combines hands-on technical leadership, team management and delivery ownership, with a competitive salary.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and architecture of scalable backend systems and microservices, define standards for API design, security, performance and scalability, and drive cloud-native architecture on Azure
• Oversee RESTful APIs and backend services, ensure quality code through design patterns and code reviews, and guide performance optimization and maintainability
• Manage deployment and operations of backend services on Azure App Services, set standards for monitoring, logging and observability, and drive cloud cost optimization
• Manage and mentor a team of backend developers and senior engineers, including performance reviews, hiring and career development
• Own end-to-end backend delivery, collaborate with product owners, QA, DevOps and architecture teams, and manage risks and dependencies
• Oversee SQL Server / Azure SQL usage, database performance tuning and integration governance with external APIs and authentication providers
• Promote CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, Git-based workflows and engineering productivity through tooling and automation

Required profile

• 10-15+ years in backend development
• 3-5+ years in technical leadership or people management roles
• Proven experience managing engineering teams of 5-15 members
• Ability to balance hands-on development with leadership responsibilities
