Automotive Aftermarket Diagnostic Specialist

About the role

The Automotive Aftermarket Diagnostic Specialist will perform hands‑on vehicle service, diagnostics and troubleshooting in OEM dealerships and workshops. You will develop and maintain diagnostic content for a wide range of automotive systems, ensuring high‑quality aftermarket testing tools.

Key responsibilities

• Perform hands‑on vehicle service, diagnostics, and troubleshooting in OEM dealerships/workshops.
• Develop automotive diagnostic content and map ESI standard texts to OEM texts for aftermarket diagnostic tester software.
• Create requirement specifications and end‑to‑end diagnostic content for systems such as engine management, electric/hybrid, brake control, infotainment, ADAS, transmission, HVAC, and airbags.
• Analyze vehicle communication bus logs using various analyzers and simulate automotive systems with simulator solutions.
• Design workflow or test sequences using IDEs like BDX or Grade‑X and evaluate OE diagnostic data.
• Perform on‑vehicle validation of diagnostic content, generate test reports, and conduct benchmarking and reverse engineering of diagnostic testers.
• Travel to workshops and OE dealerships for on‑vehicle coverage, tracing, and release testing.

Required profile

• Strong vehicle system knowledge, including sub‑systems and components, with at least 2 years of hands‑on diagnostic experience.
• Ability to understand OE system descriptions, service & repair manuals, and independently handle diagnostic testers.
• Good knowledge of wiring diagrams, Bosch Aftermarket Diagnostic Tool (ESI [tronic]), and communication protocols such as CAN, CAN FD, DoIP, UDS, and J1939.
• Experience with analyzer and simulation tools from Vector or Samtec (e.g., HSX, HS+).

• Diagnostic testers: VIDA, Xentry, GDS, ADT, SDT‑II, DiagBox, HDS, Launch, Autel, G‑Scan, Zenith.
• Communication protocols: CAN, CAN FD, DoIP, UDS, J1939.
• Tools: BDX‑Bosch Data Extension, Vector HSX, HS+.
• Software: Bosch Aftermarket Diagnostic Tool – ESI [tronic].
