Associate - Microsoft Purview Data Governance Engineer

About the role

PwC is hiring an Associate to act as a Microsoft Purview Data Governance Engineer in its GCC Advisory practice in Mumbai. The role covers end-to-end governance of enterprise data sources on-premises and in the cloud, including automation, metadata capture, data classification and policy implementation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead enablement and management of Microsoft Purview for enterprise data sources on-premises and in the cloud.
• Develop and maintain custom automation scripts using PowerShell, Python and CLI to interact with Purview APIs for data source registration, scan configuration, rule set creation and scheduling.
• Create and manage Purview domains, collections and data catalogs to capture metadata and track data lineage.
• Register data sources manually and automatically, then run test scans to validate metadata harvesting and classification accuracy.
• Define and implement data governance policies across Microsoft 365 services, including SharePoint and Teams, covering accountability, privacy, security and compliance.
• Support Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI) tenant-to-tenant migrations while maintaining governance and security.
• Work with security, compliance and data owners on data lifecycle management, sharing agreements and regulatory compliance.
• Monitor and report governance maturity, data quality and compliance metrics using Purview dashboards and custom scripts.
• Document automation workflows, governance processes and operational guidelines.

Required profile

• 3+ years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview or similar data governance platforms.
• Bachelor of Technology degree.
• Experience registering and scheduling scans for cloud and on-premises sources such as Azure SQL Database, PostgreSQL, MongoDB and SQL Server.
• Experience with Power Platform migrations and Microsoft 365 governance.
• Strong problem-solving, communication and collaboration skills.
