Assistant Project Manager

About the role

Unilever is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support engineering projects across its manufacturing sites. The role combines supply‑chain knowledge, construction safety oversight, and equipment commissioning to ensure projects are delivered on time and to quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct detailed project scope studies with factory teams and develop project networks.
• Drive day‑to‑day safety execution, managing PTW, MOS, THA, SAM, HI and other safety indicators.
• Lead commissioning of packaging machines, automated warehouses, ASRS, tanks, vessels, piping and steel structures.
• Provide technical support to factories, manage stakeholders and vendors, and prepare BOMs.
• Monitor project blueprints, track progress and ensure efficient project management.
• Travel across HUL and associated contract manufacturing sites as required.

Required profile

• B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Instrumentation or Electrical engineering.
• 3‑5 years of experience in supply chain, project execution or engineering.
• Hands‑on experience in project and contractor management, preferably mechanical.
• Proven ability to work with Agile methodologies and diverse teams.
• Strong analytical mindset with knowledge of problem‑solving tools such as Fish‑Bone and 5‑Why analysis.

Required skills

• Construction safety procedures and permit‑to‑work systems (PTW, MOS, THA, SAM, HI).
• Commissioning of equipment, tanks, vessels, piping and steel structures.
• Vendor management, BOM preparation and troubleshooting.
• Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Power‑BI for data analysis and reporting.
• Agile project management techniques.
• Problem‑solving tools: Fish‑Bone Diagram, Why‑Why analysis.
