Assistant Manager – Purchasing

About the role

The Assistant Manager Purchase will lead end‑to‑end procurement activities for a fast‑paced aviation catering operation. Based on‑site in Trivandrum, you will ensure that food, beverage, packaging and operational supplies are sourced, negotiated and delivered on time, supporting high service standards.

Key responsibilities

• Source and qualify suppliers, request quotations and negotiate pricing and terms for all categories of supplies.
• Maintain approved vendor lists, issue purchase orders and track deliveries to meet inventory requirements.
• Coordinate closely with production, stores, quality and finance teams to guarantee material availability.
• Monitor supplier performance, resolve delivery or quality issues, and keep accurate purchase records.
• Identify and implement process improvements and cost‑optimization initiatives.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of purchasing, vendor management and PO processing.
• Experience with inventory control, materials management and warehouse coordination.
• Ability to analyse costs, compare quotations and support budget adherence.
• Understanding of basic contract terms, supplier agreements and company compliance.
• Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with ERP or procurement software.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management and organisational skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Commerce or related field preferred.
