Assistant Manager - Planning and Procurement

About the role

The Assistant Manager – Planning and Procurement works independently under close supervision to ensure the smooth flow of materials throughout the production cycle. This role combines operational execution with strategic forecasting to guarantee the right product is available at the right place and time.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, schedule and monitor material movement across the production network.
• Determine material requirements from engineering and production schedules.
• Coordinate efficient material flow with purchasing, production, and engineering teams.
• Develop specifications for new contract orders and maintain bills of material and commodity numbers in enterprise systems.
• Input and maintain accurate data in business systems, ensuring data integrity.
• Apply analytical and statistical techniques to create tactical demand forecasts and replenishment plans.
• Support the monthly Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process.
• Determine optimal inventory positions for each SKU/location and set safety‑stock targets.
• Analyze inventory data, recommend adjustments, and proactively modify forecast strategies.

Required profile

• Graduate in engineering; MBA is a plus.
• 5‑8 years of experience in supply chain, demand planning, and inventory management.
• Strong analytical, quantitative, and communication skills.
• Experience with APO or similar forecasting tools (highly desirable).
• APICS/CPIM certification desirable.
• Exposure to global supply‑chain environments is a plus.
• Formal problem‑solving training such as Six Sigma is advantageous.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment.
