Assistant Manager - Category

About the role

The Assistant Manager – Category will own the business performance of a specific product category in Bangalore. Reporting to senior leadership, you will drive growth, margin and market share through strategic assortment, pricing and vendor initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Own the regional P&L and deliver category growth through assortment planning, pricing, promotions and vendor engagement.
• Benchmark and close assortment gaps each quarter to keep the offering relevant for customers across cities.
• Develop deep knowledge of regional variations, pricing structures, vendor sourcing and key brand items.
• Strengthen relationships with existing brands, close monthly business plans and drive brand‑level growth.
• Identify and launch new or missing categories to capture maximum market share.
• Ensure 100% vendor fill rate, warehouse availability and front‑end stock by coordinating timely deliveries.
• Act like an entrepreneur to build a long‑term, leadership‑positioned product range.
• Collaborate with regional repackers and co‑packers to push new product development and profitability.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of category management experience, preferably in the dairy sector.
• Proven ability to solve ambiguous problems and identify customer needs.
• Self‑starter attitude with the tenacity to thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
• Strong analytical, project‑management and organizational skills with extreme attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
