Aerospace Subject Matter Expert (SME) – Mechanical Systems

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Aerospace Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Mechanical Systems to lead the architecture, design and delivery of safety‑critical aircraft systems such as hydraulic, pneumatic, fuel ECS and flight‑control actuation. The role provides technical leadership across multiple aerospace programmes and works closely with structures, avionics, manufacturing and certification teams.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as technical lead and SME for aircraft mechanical systems, analysing, designing, developing, integrating and validating solutions.
• Review system requirements, specifications and interface documents; perform architecture studies, trade‑off analyses and root‑cause investigations.
• Support system sizing, component selection and performance calculations; develop and review SRS, ICDs, test procedures, FMEA and reliability assessments.
• Conduct design reviews, ensure compliance with FAA/EASA, ARP4754A, ARP476 and AS9100 standards, and support qualification, verification, validation and certification activities.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and provide technical mentoring to engineering staff.
• Drive continuous‑improvement initiatives and promote best engineering practices.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• 10–15 years of experience in aerospace mechanical systems on commercial, military, business‑jet, helicopter or UAV platforms.
• Deep knowledge of hydraulic power generation, pneumatic systems, flight‑control actuation, landing‑gear hydraulics, braking, ECS and fuel‑utility interfaces.
• Familiarity with aircraft system integration, certification processes and aerospace standards (FAA/EASA, ARP4754A, ARP476, AS9100).
• Strong stakeholder management, problem‑solving and communication skills.
