Vice President – Taxation (Mumbai)

About the role

The Vice President – Taxation will provide strategic leadership for direct tax, indirect tax, transfer pricing compliance and tax accounting across the SG Mumbai Branch and related entities. Reporting to the CFO, the role advises senior leadership on tax risk, governance and strategic decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee timely and accurate execution of all direct and indirect tax compliance, regulatory filings and statutory reporting.
• Coordinate with external advisors, auditors, tax authorities and regional tax teams on assessments, audits, litigation and complex advisory matters.
• Lead strategic tax initiatives such as Advance Pricing Agreement filings, documentation and stakeholder engagement.
• Monitor developments in tax laws and drive implementation of changes across processes and controls.
• Provide tax advisory support for new products, transactions, operating models and business initiatives.
• Maintain executive visibility on key tax matters through trackers, dashboards and regular updates.
• Champion tax transformation projects, including automation and AI‑enabled solutions, from design through implementation.
• Ensure robust governance, risk mitigation and effective resolution of contentious tax matters.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in corporate tax, indirect tax and transfer pricing within a banking or financial services environment.
• Proven track record of managing tax audits, litigation and complex regulatory engagements.
• Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities with the capacity to influence senior leadership.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work across multiple jurisdictions.
