Software Engineer II – Java, Kafka, AWS

About the role

You will join the Payments Technology team within JPMorganChase’s Commercial & Investment Bank as a Software Engineer II. Working in an agile environment, you will help design, develop, and deliver secure, stable, and scalable software components for the firm’s technology products.

Key responsibilities

• Execute standard software design, development, and technical troubleshooting tasks.
• Write secure, high‑quality code in Java and leverage AI‑assisted coding tools for generation, refactoring, testing, and documentation.
• Design, develop, code, and troubleshoot components while considering upstream and downstream system impacts.
• Apply SDLC tools, including AI‑assisted automation, to improve development efficiency.
• Gather and analyze large data sets to identify issues and support decision‑making for secure application development.

Required profile

• Formal training or certification in software engineering with at least 2 years of applied experience.
• Hands‑on experience with Java (Java 17+), AWS services, and enterprise‑grade AI‑assisted development tools.
• Understanding of responsible AI use, data sensitivity, and security best practices.
• Experience across the full Software Development Life Cycle and exposure to agile methodologies such as CI/CD.
