About the role

Airbnb’s Payments organization builds and operates the systems that settle money across its global marketplace. As a Senior Staff Software Engineer you will shape the architecture, mentor engineers, and drive innovative solutions that enhance the community partner experience.

Key responsibilities

• Define and drive long‑term technical strategy and architecture for Payments, aligning with the company’s vision.
• Lead the design, build, and launch of reliable, performant, and scalable payment solutions.
• Critically evaluate existing and emerging technologies, fostering sustainable innovation.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional partners to deliver high‑quality products and align technical work with business outcomes.
• Mentor junior engineers through design reviews, code walkthroughs, and knowledge‑sharing sessions.

Required profile

• 15+ years of hands‑on software engineering experience.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• Proven track record building, leading, and architecting production systems with broad impact.
• Strong technical leadership, communication, and collaboration skills across product, design, and operations.
• Passion for fostering an inclusive, collaborative team environment and driving alignment with stakeholders.
