Senior Engineering Manager – Product Platforms

About the role

We’re looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to lead the teams building shared product platforms at AlphaSense. The role covers API‑first platforms that power multiple product surfaces and a usage platform that meters AI credit consumption. It combines people‑management responsibilities with deep technical involvement and cross‑functional partnership.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, grow and develop backend and platform engineering teams across API and usage/consumption areas.
• Own delivery of roadmap commitments, execution quality and predictable outcomes for platforms serving internal and external consumers.
• Define and maintain usage metering and AI credit accounting, ensuring accuracy, auditability and low latency.
• Partner with Product, Finance, RevOps and SRE to shape platform roadmaps, consumption models and operational excellence.
• Uphold API governance, versioning strategy and backward compatibility, and drive operational health through SLOs, observability and incident management.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing backend or platform engineering teams, including hiring and career development.
• Strong hands‑on background in backend or distributed systems with ability to engage in design and code reviews.
• Track record of delivering and operating APIs at scale and building data‑intensive ingestion and reporting pipelines.
• Comfort with ambiguity and ability to influence technical direction across multiple teams.
