Senior Attorney

About the role

IBM is seeking a Senior Attorney to join its Legal Center of Excellence in Bangalore. The role involves providing comprehensive legal guidance to IBM’s global lawyers and business units across a range of transactional and non‑transactional matters.

Key responsibilities

• Support early‑stage commercial engagements, including direct and indirect distribution agreements, mergers and acquisitions, and related transactions.
• Advise business functions such as procurement, real estate, human resources, and finance on regulatory compliance, contractual disputes, litigation, intellectual property, workplace relations, privacy, and cybersecurity.
• Collaborate with the Bangalore‑based legal team and IBM’s global legal network to ensure consistent legal service delivery.
• Drive process‑improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency of legal operations.
• Provide dispute advisory and support litigation matters as required.

Required profile

• Qualified to practice law in India with at least 9 years of relevant experience in‑house or at a law firm.
• Proven experience negotiating IT contracts for services, software, and cloud solutions with government and commercial entities.
• Demonstrated expertise in privacy, cybersecurity, intellectual property, and regulatory compliance issues.
• Ability to work independently, with decreasing supervision as familiarity with IBM’s operations grows.
• Strong commitment to integrity and ethical conduct.
