Ophthalmologist – Full-time Clinical Role

About the role

We are seeking a full‑time Ophthalmologist to join Akhand Jyoti Eye Hospital in Hinjilicut. The successful candidate will deliver comprehensive eye care to a predominantly rural, low‑income population, supporting the hospital’s mission to eliminate avoidable blindness.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct outpatient consultations, comprehensive eye examinations and pre‑ and post‑operative assessments.
• Perform cataract surgery, including manual small‑incision and phacoemulsification techniques, and other indicated ocular procedures.
• Interpret diagnostic investigations such as biometry, OCT, visual fields and fundus photography.
• Collaborate with optometrists, nurses, counselors and outreach teams to ensure patient‑centered care.
• Participate in clinical audits, junior staff training and community eye‑health initiatives.

Required profile

• MBBS with MS/MD/DNB in Ophthalmology from an accredited institution.
• Valid medical registration and eligibility to practice ophthalmology.
• Demonstrated competence in comprehensive ophthalmic examination and management of anterior and posterior segment conditions.
• Commitment to ethical, evidence‑based practice and serving underserved communities.

Required skills

• Cataract surgery (manual small‑incision and/or phacoemulsification).
• Interpretation of biometry, OCT, visual fields and fundus photography.
• Strong patient communication and counseling in culturally sensitive language.
